In his landmark encyclical Laudato Si’, Pope Francis outlines a new synthesis of Catholic Social Teaching.
“Integral ecology” begins from the deep connections among the natural environment, economic systems, and human cultures. From this perspective, a range of social problems—the dignity of life, climate change, income inequality, technology—appear as different aspects of the same crisis. Integral ecology not only invites solidarity with non-Catholics toward the global common good, but also builds bridges with social sciences and life sciences.
